The Bull & Dog was situated on Derby Road, on the corner of Newtown Road. In March 1877 there was an attempt to close it by local people on the grounds that there was sufficient public house accommodation in the area. This failed and it remained open until 1898 when it was closed. It remained in use for other purposes until 1934 when it was demolished.
