The Peacock was situated on Bolter End Lane and closed in January 2015.
From The Good Pub Guide 1983:
This very popular pub rambles up and down steps through a series of small rooms, alcoves and window seats. Apart from a 350-year old inglenook (which we were grateful for, escaping from a sudden thundering deluge), the decor and furnishings are simple and mainly modern, with rugs on the polished brick and tile floor. Bar food includes ploughman's (1.25), beefburger (1.25), home-made chicken and mushroom or steak and kidney pie (1.85) and ham salad (2); well-kep ABC, Bass and Everards Tiger on handpump; darts and dominoes. In summer there are tables on the grass in front.

Tim Smithson 1980/2005 Peter was the host and dusty was the barman in my day, best ham egg and chips for miles, my gran loved going there for a meal out, always said the ham was too much for her... Lovely pints of ABC, and spent a new years eve there dancing with my wife in about 1991 ish
