The Golden Ball was situated at 7 Church Street. This pub is now used as offices.
This was a pretty little pub which got left on the busier or town side of St Mary's Way when the road was built in the late sixties. The building, which was probably 18th century and had at one time been the town's customs house still exists today and has passed through several owners since its demise as a pub in the early eighties. This was only the second pub in the town (after The Queens Head) to re-install real beer but its tie to Allied and a lack of any kind if investment robbed it of the ability to exploit this fact.
