Salutation Inn

The Salutation Inn was situated on Tetbury Street. This grade-II listed pub closed in the 1960s and became the premises for an electrical business, which has now ceased trading.
 
Listed building details:
Block of buildings on street corner. Partly C18, mostly rebuilt in C19. Random rubble limestone, partly with smooth render; painted ashlar front to F.W. Wall and Sons. Ashlar chimneys; stone slate roof. Two-storey with attic. Front: mixed sash fenestration to corner house, one 12-pane sash to ground floor with Regency reeded architraves. Doorway with C20 panelled door and plain fanlight. Two gabled dormers with timber casements. F.W. Wall and Sons to left has 2-storey canted bay window with 3 upper floor 12-pane sashes, C20 shop windows to ground floor. Upper floor sill band, moulded cornice and blocking course. Angled 12-pane ground floor sash in former door position on corner. West side (facing Well Hill): evidence of several blocked windows. Three-window fenestration mostly 4-pane sashes, 2 to ground floor with Regency architraves. Central doorway with C20 door. Two gabled attic dormers. Interior not inspected. Part recorded as Salutation Inn since 1775.
