The Twin Foxes was situated on
Rockingham Way. This pub was built in 1952 from a design by Halliday, Carey
& Vincent, opened the year after (1953) and was named after identical twin
poachers Albert & Ebenezer Fox who were active in the area in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries. Noted architectural historian Nikolaus Pevsner
referred to the pub's design as “remarkable …in its combination of actively
modern forms with the traditional English pub character”. The pub closed in
2012 and five years later in 2017, planning permission was granted to
demolish the pub and build houses on the site. |
