The Rose & Crown was situated on Branbridges Road. The pub closed just before Christmas 2009. In February 2010 the pub went up in flames and was severely damaged following a fire as a result of an electrical (seems to happen a lot in closed pubs) fault. The pub, owned by Enterprise Inns, future is uncertain.

Now used as the 'Taste Of Punjab', an Indian restaurant. It now looks awfully strange as the original roof has not been restored due to a planning problem. It is currently sporting a flat roof that does do the appearance of the restaurant any favours.

What a loss! What a shame. What bad news. A sad trip down memory lane! Last time I was there was about 30 years ago. Jim and blonde Anna Naismith were landlord and landlady,Gucci was the feared (and loved) dog.
