White Lion

The White Lion was situated at 70 Cheriton High Street.
The White Lion was much used by the Irish labourers who were building the Dungeness Nuclear Power Stations on Romney Marsh during the 1960s. If you wanted a Saturday night punch-up, it was the place to go. In the bar there was a small (2 high) statue of Matthew Webb, the first recorded man to swim the English Channel to France. I wonder where it is now?
