Roman Galley

The Roman Galley was situated on the Thanet Way at Herne Bay in Kent. The pub closed in about 2005 and is now "luxury" apartments. Fans of Only Fools and Horses will recognise this as the "Halfway House" pub where the jolly boys stopped off for a pitstop whilst on their beano to Margate.

Martin Humphreys 1981 Staff on Saturday and Sundays when the Beanos came past on the way to and on the way back from Margate.
I remember the discos in the barn out the back and the huge amount of alcohol that was drunk by the customers. A lot of half full glasses went back on the coach at chucking out time.
John Walker 1970s I was booked on numerous weekends to run my mobile disco at the Roman Galley. Entertaining 'beano' runs to Margate mainly.
