The Westbere Butts was situated on Island Road and is now used as an Indian restaurant.

I grew up opposite the westbere butts. It was run by john and joan hedigan. Everyone knew him as H. They had it fron 1962 approx to1989. He used to be a jockey.someone asked if he was any good at it. He replied well I'm serving you. What do you think! He was a great man and well respected. Someone once asked if he got a good trade during the day. He replied oh I get plenty of passing trade only trouble is it keeps on passing!
