Boars Head

The Boars Head was situated on Friargate, opposite McDonalds. This pub was close and demolished in 1983 when the St George shopping centre to the rear was extended.

The upstairs bar was known as The Murrayfield Lounge.

Colin Scott 1955-1962 I lived in this pub. My father W O Scott, was the proprietor. In those days the stables and hay lofts were still in the back of the pub, backing on to Bambers Yard.
Sonja Kielty 1970s My grandma was proprietor Jean Shipley. And her husband and daughter. My mum Catherine also live with them. Adopted by them. I remember going to the pub as a little girl, early 1970s.
