Fox Inn

The Fox Inn was situated on Main Street. This pub closed in 2014.
My great grand- uncle, Samuel Walker (1844 - 1905) was landlord of this pub in 1896. It seems like he enjoyed a drink with the locals as in that year, he was charged at Melton Mowbray petty sessions with permitting drunkenness at the Fox Inn, along with John Brown, a grazier from Great Dalby who was charged with being drunk on the same premises. Samuel Walker was also found worse for wear by the local police. Apparently this was not his first offence either!
