The Case Was Altered

The Case Was Altered was situated on the A17 and was one of ten pubs auctioned off by the Smith family of Gosberton in 1951. According to the Lincolnshire Standard of 1 December 1951, "Bidding started before a crowd of 100 at 12,000 . . . at 40,000 the properties were knocked down to Mr Sidney Motion of Sidney H & Graham Motion, on behalf of Messrs Morgan brewers of Norwich". This pub was present by 1872 when the publican was Frederick Hanks.
