Duke Of York

Date of photo: 1970s

The Duke Of York was situated at 7 Lincoln Lane. This pub has now been demolished with a block of flats built on the site.

My maternal Grandma Lizzie Fowler worked here as a 14 year old servant in the 1880s. Her 6 year old sister Susannah lodged in the pub and her mother and new husband lived in a caravan parked in the pub yard.

Joy Pexton 1974/1981 We were landlords.
Dale Elsom 2014/2016 I was last Landlord/Tenant of the pub before it was sold by Bateman's Brewery to Asif Iqbal of Peterborough. Who then sold it to a private Housing Charity to what it is now. I made it into a viable business, with award winning drinks and food. Also turned it into one of the best live music venues in the area, and live sports venue ect.
