The Royal George was situated in West Street. The original building was destroyed in the 1940s during a German bombing raid.  A new pub of the same name was built on the site in the 1950s, which in turn closed during the 1990s. This pub is now used as an Indian restaurant.

My parents, Mick and Ann Parker, were publicans here from 1986 to 1988.
