The Black Boy was situated on Castle Hill and following closure in 1923 is now used as The Castle Hill Club. Present by 1716. When working in Lincoln, William Marwood, the Official Executioner, would stay at The Black Boy. In 1872, Marwood, a cobbler from Horncastle, (1820-1883) introduced the 'Long Drop' method of hanging. Publican in 1899 was John Barley.
