Chaplin Arms
The Chaplin Arms was situated at 92 High Street.
The publican in 1872 was Charles Auckland, in 1919
George Heath. This pub is now used as a guest house. |
Charles Auckland who was the publican in 1872 was born 1837
in Martin where he lived all his life, being a small holder and then
publican. He died before 1881 and his wife Mary then took on the pub until
at least 1891. She was also a farmer, so she must have been quite a woman
supporting six children as well. |
