The Mitford Tavern was situated at 133 Amhurst Road. This pub was established by 1872.  It was tied to Smith Garrett’s Brewery of Bow, passing later to Allied Breweries and being badged as a Taylor Walker house.  In 1993 the pub was acquired by Maple Leaf Inns and it closed in 2002 to be replaced by a new development of flats called David Irvine House.
