The Sutton Arms was situated at 92 Boleyn Road. This pub has now been converted into flats.

In the mid-80s, not long after I’d moved into the local area, I dropped in here just for a quick pint and to see what the place was like. I had an encounter with an awful bore who insisted repeatedly that I was Irish, in spite of my equally repeated insistence that I was British. I’ve no idea why. At the time I’d never set foot in Ireland. That was my only visit to the Sutton Arms.
