The George & Dragon was situated at 14 St Georges Way. This pub has now been demolished.

I lived in there in the 1950's to the 1960's when my late parents ran it.When my mother took it over the trade had nearly died , but in the first 18 months she completley turned it around even reforming the regular meeting of the water buffalos in the room upstairs. They awarded her a siver gilt broach with a buffalos head on it and an inscription on the back thanking her for her efforts. It dose not sound much now days but when she took it on it was making app £40 per week, within 18 months she had go to over £200 per week.
