The Californian

The Californian was situated at 1 - 2 St Thomas Way. Previously known as the Duke Of Edinburgh, the site is now occupied by housing.

It was built by my great grandfather, Jesse Ridgley, who also had a Timber Merchants behind the Pub. This was in the mid/late 19th century after he returned from 7 years "Transportation".He was said to have funded it from a "gold find" he had made hence the name.
