The Lion

The Lion was situated at 27 Wick Road. This pub closed in December 2010.
This pub reopened on the 3rd Feb 2011 (it closed 22nd Dec 2010). Rachid Noui with Julien are now running the pub for Enterprise Inns with a view of taking on the tenancy. Their intention is to add a French restaurant to this traditional pub. The beer bottles behind the bar that Don had collected have gone together with the CAMRA Certificates and the pool table. Beer was Pride and Doombar. The Doombar at 340p a pint.
The pub is due to close again for refurbishment in a month or two. However, I have heard that it is now on the market again.

Closed December 2022, future uncertain.

Promising news about the Lion in Teddington. The pub, which dates from 1876 and was owned and operated by Stonegate Pub Partners, closed in December 2022. It has remained closed ever since while being marketed. Happily, it has now been sold. Originally as reported that it had been purchased by a community group. In fact, it has been purchased by individual members of the community. Three local residents have put up most of the purchase price, with smaller investments from a dozen or so other neighbours. The pub is in need of refurbishment but the new owners hope to have it open in time for Christmas. The owners will be appointing professional managers to operate the pub and it will be free of tie, looking to support local suppliers. They also intend to offer traditional pub food for families. The pub has a large lounge/restaurant area. One of the investors said, ”We merry bunch of locals want this local to be more than a community pub, a community hub and less of a boozer!”
