Benwell House

The Benwell House was situated on Benwell Lane. This pub has now been demolished and a Co-op funeral parlour stands on the site. This had obviously been an affluent person's residence with full length stained glass window of a knight in armour. Also big open fireplace and very unusually served Newcastle ales on gravity (no handpump). Stopped trading as a pub pre 1990.
