The Golden Fleece was situated at 105 Mansfield Road. A pub since 1845, and popular with the local student population, The Golden Fleece fell victim to a combination of concerns about the safety of the building, and "relentless and unsustainable increases in operating costs, particularly utilities, have made continuing operation impossible", and the "intensified approach" to business by the Government. It closed its doors on 2 Jan 2026.
