The Blue Bowl was situated on the A39.
In operation from at least 1841 when John Beck was the innkeeper, it changed
its name to the Camelot Inn in the late 1970s and then again to the Three
Wells in 2015. Closed in May 2017. At the end of 2021 planning applications
were made to convert to shop/cafe and to place five holiday lodges on the
adjoining land. |

We used to holiday in the Farm just round the corner run by Mr. and Mrs
Fear. I was about 7 at the time and used to help Mr Fear bring the cows
in for milking at about 6 a.m. I was not really allowed in the Bowl, but
used to sit outside and have a weak cider/lemonade drink along an awful
big "water biscuit". I loved Mr and Mrs Fear dearly. There was a huge
bowl in the bedroom and a big jug of water in the bowl for me to wash. |
