The Westgate Inn was situated on Westgate Street. This pub was present by 1861 when the publican was Hannah Clarke. It closed c2010 and is now used as an Indian restaurant.

George-Morghiste Ottea, a black man who ended up as a butler for Reginald Eden Johnston one time governor of the bank of Englan,d held the licence for the Westgate Inn at some point between 1881 and 1888.
