Railway Arms

The Railway Arms was situated on London Road North. This pub opened in 1805 and closed in January 2018. It has now been converted into residential accommodation.
I started drinking in there as a 17 year old kid, when Bill and Pauline Barry ran it. They left in the 1990's and I continued to meet my friends there. The nickname of the Railway Arms was The Pig. Two old men told me a story that part of the pub acted as a butchers ( salon side ) hence the name The Pig as that's where the pigs were hung.
