The Lord Nelson was
situated at 32 Lower Road. The Punch Tavern's
owned pub closed in April 2026. Built in 1860s, it is another victim of the
rise in the cost of living. Tradesmen who used to frequent the pub and get
jobs from contacts there are no longer getting jobs and could no longer
afford to drink so there was no incentive to go. It became a vicious circle.
Additionally, the loss of free parking nearby dented custom. The beer
swilling, swearing Parrott, George, which uttered Millwall chants, has been
found a new home. |
