The Rock Robin was situated on Station Road. This pub has now been demolished and replaced by housing.

I was a pupil at Mayfield College. On 18th October 1979 some friends and I went to the Rock Robin to celebrate my 17th birthday. An Old Boy who had left Mayfield the previous year worked behind the bar so we got served quite easily. While we were there this Hot Rod pulled up outside and in walked Jeff Beck and his girlfriend. They were talking to one of the barmaids behind the bar and she said it was her birthday and Jeff bought her a bottle of Champagne. Our friend behind the bar mentioned that it was my birthday too and Jeff came over to talk to us and bought me a bottle of Champagne too. Alas the pub is gone now and so is Jeff. RIP.
