St Johns Arms

The St Johns Arms was also known as The Old Eagle. Named after the landowner Henry St John, whose coat of arms included an eagle. It was situated at Rockley, a small community 3 miles north-west of Marlborough, Wiltshire, at the junction of an old coach road from Swindon to Marlborough, and turnpike from Marlborough to Broad Hinton. It ceased to be an inn in the mid-19th century and was converted into a private house. In December 1947 the house caught fired and was destroyed. No trace now exists.
