The Raven Hotel was situated on St
Andrew Street. This grade-II listed
hotel ceased trading in 2010 and has fallen into an extreme disrepair. Plans
for the building to be redeveloped into homes were submitted in 2021. |
|
Outline permission had been approved in 2022 for
partial demolition, repair, refurbishment and conversion of the property for
residential, hospitality and leisure (including a brine bath and gin bar).
In March 2025, emergency work to repair the roof, that should have been done
by Dec 2024, was nearly complete. However this Grade II listed building,
dating back to 1452, and (reputedly to have been visited by King Charles 1
during the English Civil War) has been severely damaged by fire on 10 Aug
2025 and the roof has collapsed. |
