    | The Robert Peel was situated on Westgate. This 
    pub was present by 1891 however has now been demolished. It was next to 
    Lingards, the department store that was damaged in 1940 by an incendiary 
    bomb (see photograph below). the pub had a 6 Day licence only and didn’t 
    open on Sunday.  The site is 
    situated under the Kirkgate Centre. |
