The Bell Hotel was situated on Blands Cliff. This pub closed in 1997. Comedian Lee Evans worked as a barman here in the early 1980s.

This hotel was used in the 1988 film ‘A Chorus of Disapproval’ (based on the play by Alan Ayckbourn and set in the town) directed by Michael Winner. It retained its name for filming. I’m not sure about the interior though. That may have been a set.
