In 1939 (according to the 1939 register) and
maybe 10 years or so before and possibly some time after the pub landlord
was Harry Marsh Ness, born and bred in Scarborough but an ex professional
footballer for Barnsley, Sunderland and Aberdeen. He played in the FA Cup
final of 1910 for Barnsley and 1913 for Sunderland...lost both games. He
passed away in 1957 in Scarborough aged 72. |
