Silver Grid

The Silver Grid was situated on Huntriss Row. This pub closed in 1984 and was converted into a Pizza Hut. Charles Dickens once gave readings from the building.

I worked as a conductor on the buses in Scarborough in summer 1967 and 1968 along with several other friends from Belfast. For part of that time three of us shared a flat in Huntriss Row.
At that time the "Silver Griddle" as it was then called had a function room upstairs and contemporary groups played there most nights. I was lucky enough to see "Chicken Shack" play there with Christine Perfect (later Chrissie McVie of Fleetwood Mac). Chicken Shack were a blues band as were Fleetwood Mac at that time. Fond memories from "The Summer of Love" - 1967. :-)
