Globe Inn

The Globe Inn was situated on North Street. It is the building with the horse and cart outside, in the above photo. One of the town's "better" establishments, it was called the Edwards Globe Hotel after the landlord from the 1880s until 1921. Initially the landlord was James Edwards then his daughter Sarah ran the hotel. Changed landlords often with Charlie Waterfield there during WWII and when it closed in 1949.
