The Port Royal was situated on Larkbeare Road. The pub, that has been operating since the 1840s, closed in January 2026. The licensee stated lack of support from the Government and the landlords, Stonegate, made the trading environment unsustainable. Sadly, following the closure, the licensee, Daniel Symms was discovered deceased on 25 February. At an inquest, the medical cause of death was found to be opioid toxicity and COPD. His funeral was held on 16 March 2026. The landlords are trying to find new tenants.
