The Black Lion
was situated
on the corner of the High Street and New Street, it adjoined
the building that is now Lloyds TSB bank. The end of New Street was very
narrow, and in 1970 The Black Lion and several other buildings were
demolished in a road widening scheme. This pub was present by 1774. Publican
in 1841 was John Mockridge. |
