The Avondale Arms was situated on St Levan Road. This pub was called The Sportsmans Arms for many years, eventually closing in 2011. This pub was legendary as on one of the toughest pubs in Plymouth and even got a mention on Sky's TV show, The Toughest Pubs In Britain in 2007.

This pub has now reopened.
