The Star Inn was situated on Bridge Street. This beerhouse is now in residential use.

My mother, a teacher, was billeted at the Star Inn with children from St Mary's school in Bayswater, London during the 2nd world war. The Wakeleys were the proprietors . After my mother married we occasionally stayed at the Pub and when I was 3 and my sister 6 we were bridesmaids for Deirdre one of their daughters.
