Fleur De Lys

The Fleur De Lys was situated on Wiremead Lane and is now used as a private dwelling.
The Fleur-de-Lys is a thatched cottage in the village of Amport, outside Andover.  I was alerted to this a couple of years ago while on my rounds, by the then owners, who approached me expecting a parcel.  They had wanted to change the name, but were refused permission by the council, as it had been a pub 150 years ago

My father, George Rumbold, his brother, Jack and sister Margaret were all born at Fleur-de-Lys,  Amport. Their father, Francis John Rumbold bought it for 400 in 1916 and the family lived there until 1948 after which they moved to Anna Valley where father worked at Anna Valley Motors.
