The
Whites Home was
situated on Princes Street. This pub was originally used as a general store
in the late 1890s, becoming a pub in the early 1900s. It was named after the
first publican, Tom White and closed in February 1958. Demolished shortly
afterwards to make way for area redevelopment. |

I was a founder member of a very good jazz club at that establishment.
The jazz club was held in a hall situated upstairs which was entered
from a stair case at the rear of the public house. I seem to recall that
the beer sold was Mann's. Many a great jazz session was held there. |
