The Carters Rest was situated at 190 Spotland Road.
 
This pub was managed by my grandfather, Herbert Allison, from the 1940s to the 1960s. We lived in the cottage next door between the pub and a shop.

David Garside 1960/1980 My father John was a regular in the 1950s before me. I remember the name bert as the land lord we used to live accross the road next to Jimmy duckworths shop. Thats were I learned to play dominoes and cribage .
