Barley Mow

The Barley Mow  was situated at 133 Narrow Street. This pub was present by 1809 and was intimately linked with the Taylor Walker Brewery which developed around it and which became known as the Barley Mow Brewery.  The brewery survived until 1960 and so did the pub, but both are now demolished.  In 1989 a newly created pub nearby took the old Barley Mow name, although this new one is now renamed the Narrow.
