I lived almost opposite born in 1946. In the
days of pop music we used to run inside the doors on the right of your photo
to put a record on the Juke Box. I always played Ben E King stand by me.
Jolly boy outings used to leave from here on a Beano to the coast. All the
kids used to gather around the charabanc bus waiting to leave and the people
on the bus threw money out of the windows and the street urchins scrambled
to collect vast sums of coins as the Chara left.
This did eventually stop due to someone getting knocked down chasing a
Tanner which rolled into the road. Good times.
Alan Shingles lived in the bay window house on the right of your pictures
and I lived opposite on the corner of Exon street |
