The Village Inn was situated at 19 Fane Drive. This pub closed for
Covid 19 in February 2020 and never reopened. It has since received planning
permission to turn the premises into flats, the conversion which has almost
been completed. |

I visited once to play bar billiards, frosty
welcome is the best I can say. Greene King acquired Morrells at the time it
was renamed The Village Inn. Back then there was a food offering. The food
went, ground floor shutters were fitted, Sky sports came and went. Having
moved into the village myself in 2010, I visited rarely, but the still
frosty welcome brought back memories. My recollection is it was a failure to
attract tenants (frosty welcome) before COVID, not COVID itself that caused
Greene King to pull the plug.
The photograph you have shows the first floor extension over the final two
rear windows, the moved side door and the strange always empty "spare front
room" left of the front door now the block's communal laundry. |
