The Great Western was situated on Station Road. This pub closed in 2005 and was demolished the following year.

Morland It's down in the Electronic Yellow Pages as the Great Western Bar and Grill, but this has been downplayed recently. The notice outside only says The Great Western. Relatively plush place that was thrown up with the railway. Brass, patterned carpet, so on. The main things that stick in my mind are the Morland Original on offer, and the throng of football supporters round the bar and their incoherent football chants. This was immediately before chucking out time (and the last train), which might have had something to do with it, though. (13.i.2000)
