Paul O'Callaghan 1984-1986 My father bought this pub in 1984.He owned it for 2 years. It was a superb pub with a terrific cross section of people ranging from Irish builders to school teachers and pensioners to bohemian types.Everything a good pub should be.It had about 12 real ales on at any one time and it was about 90p a pint then ! Also (allegedly) there was a ghost which the regulars named 'Albert' ! My father sold it to the Shepherd Neame brewery in 1986.
Ronnie Chambers 1986-1988 I lived in the Kemp Town area of Brighton between 1986 and 1988. I never went In this pub much , but when I did always found it an enjoyable experience. . People from the nearby hospital would sometimes use this pub on weekend nights, but generally it had an older clientele. I remember the beers served there were rare for the area, possibly from a Northern brewery.
