Ongley Arms

Ongley Arms, Eyeworth

The Ongley Arms was situated on Cambridge Road. This pub closed in November 1987.
They had an excellent folk club with an open mic event at most gatherings. Sadly only a few names come to mind were Mark and Trish (duet), Howard, Mike & Mike, Bernie, Fletch on the fiddle, Alan on the squeeze box and the wonderful singer Kathy (her signature song was "Old Maid in the Garret". The landlady at the demise of the pub moved to Holt, Norfolk and ran a chocolate shop there. There used to be a very old game of cheese skittles but it was pushed into a corner on Folk night.
