The Black Bear was situated at 2 Market Place.

My father told me a story about a battle in and around this pub during the second world war. It was between members of the British 6th Airborne division and the American 101st Airborne division. The outcome being the deaths of some of the soldiers and bodies in the marketplace. I'm still investigating this story of my father.
