The Wheatsheaf

The Wheatsheaf, Newbury

The Wheatsheaf was situated on Shaw Road. This pub had been owned by Watney Mann (formerly Ushers) since 1925 and closed in 1971. It is now in residential use.

My grandfather was the last landlord of the Wheatsheaf his name was Albert Little and he retired in 1965,I remember the cellar steps being very steep but I was only 5 years old the last time I was there
There was a public bar that was gentlemen only and a small snug where my grandmother waited on the customers, mostly ladies !
